Subject: Friend, which is better, a protein bar or...

Hey Friend,

So, the subject line of this email is "what is a better, a protein bar or....

  Nothing?

  Yes, that's the full question.

"What is better for weight loss, a protein bar or nothing?

  The answer is unequivocally....NOTHING.

NowFriend, let me explain why that is without a question of doubt.

I saw a "fitness trainer/weight loss coach" post a video on Facebook about a specific 'protein bar' that she was trying out and she said that you should shoot for a bar that is 200 calories or less and 10 grams of protein or more.

The bar she was testing was a bar from a company called BAREBELLS. I've never heard of them. But for the most part, most of these protein bar companies are all the same.

They're basically candy bars with a more protein than a candy bar, so they call themselves 'protein bars'.

And the extremely outdated, archaic philosophy behind promoting these and eating them is that you SHOULD NEVER go more than a few hours without eaeting protein.

This has been proven unnecessary time and time and time and time again.

For someone who needs to lose weight, the much better option is to eat nothing.

Will their metabolism slow downfrom missing a meal? NO.

Will they lose muscle from missing a meal? NO (and fat loss is the bigger concern anyways).

Will they binge on food later when they do eat a meal? NO.

Now, let's take a look at the protein bar in question:

Some of the ingredients include; hydrolysate (?), Glycerin, Maltitol (?), Polydextrose, Sunflower Oil (seed oil), Artificial Flavors, Sunflower Lecithin and Sucralose (sugar).

This is a what's what of what you SHOULD NOT be eating.

But why are trainers and weight loss coaches promoting garbage like this?

Because, for heaven's sake, you can't ever be hungry and go 2 or 3 hours without eating! (very heavy on the sarcasm there).

It reminds me of the 'everyone gets a trophy attitude' nowadays.

"I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I don't want them to have to do something hard. If they feel that way they might not like me and/or fire me as their coach/trainer."

So what happens is these trainers just tell you what you want to hear. Or better yet, they recommend you basically eat candy bars as a way to lose weight.

And let's say, for argument's sake, that somebody did lose weight from eating these bars (it would never happen, but let's say it did).

Are they going to be healthier on the inside?

  100% ABSOLUTELY NOT.

But maybe for the trainer recommending this kind of crap, they don't really care about that. They don't care all that much about your overall health, they just want you to lose weight.

Because there's no way any fitness trainer/weight loss coach in their right mind would recommend you eat a protein bar when there's much better choices like greek yogurt, cottage cheese, (a protein shake would even be better), if they care about your health.

The best choice out of all of the options for 2 main reasons (weight loss and health) is to not eat.

We're so brainwashed as a society to think that not eaeting is a bad thing.

On a side note, I've done four 48 hour fasts over the las 4 weeks. I'm the leanest I've been in a long time and I feel fantastic. And I'm healthier than almost everyone I know.

And guess what....I didn't even really need to lose weight. I just wanted to lose about 3-5 lbs.

But imagine the dramatic impact that not eating could have on someone who wants/needs to lose 10, 15, 20+ lbs????

  Absolutely life changing.

But it's not just not eating in a haphazard way. There's a method and design to it.

Many people, when they hear the term fasting, conjure up images of never eating again, ever. Starving. Torture.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Especially after you do it for a few weeks. It becomes part of your life and you actually look forward to it a little bit.

But most people are too deep in the woods to see the forest through the trees.

But not me, and not the thousands of people who have gone through my program.

So, yes, Friend, if weight loss is your top priority and the choices are eating a glorified candy bar or eating nothing...nothing wins almost every single time.

Kevin

P.S. Bernadette joined my program and went through some periods of eating nothing. And not only did she live to tell about it, she seems pretty damn happy about it! Check out what she had to say:
"I have to say, I was a bit skeptical in the beginning but after seeing the weight drop after the first week, I knew this was the program for me. Over the 8 weeks I’ve lost 22.3 pounds! I can’t tell you enough how easy it is to do. The feeling of being in control of what I eat, the feeling of empowerment is over the top, not to mention all of the energy you get from this as well. It’s a wonderful program and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to change their lives! Thank you so much!”
