Subject: Friend, what will it take?

           THE F.A.T. METHOD

The World's Greatest Weight Loss Program

Hey Friend,

I went to my son's basketball game last night and my mom came along with me.

She'll be 77 years old in June and she's in pretty good shape. She walks regularly, lost about 60 lbs over the last 3 years, never was a smoker and not a drinker.

My Dad usually comes to the games too but this time he stayed home as he was feeling a little tired. He's turning 78 this year. His health is pretty good too but he's been having some trouble with his back.

All of this got me thinking about getting older and whether or not we do that gracefully or if we will have limited mobility, taking tons of medications, being tired all the time, etc.

Some of that is the luck of the draw, but a lot of it is brought on from inactivity and being overweight. WAY more than most people give it credit for.

But think about most senior citizens who have poor mobility or are taking a lot of medications.

The picture in your head is probably someone who is overweight, right?

So if that's the case, which it is for the most part, then what will it take for you, or anyone for that matter, to lose weight?

What will it take for you to start exercising?

What will it take for you to eat mostly healthy foods and eliminate most junk/processed foods?

We’ve been beaten over the head with the information that tells us that we should exercise, walk daily, eat healthy, keep our weight in check, get proper rest/sleep, etc.

Yet, most Americans do the opposite of that.

  Why is that?

I don’t really know. I guess I would be quite wealthy if I had the answer to that. Or more so if I had the program or the ‘magic pill’ that got people to do those things (I think I do actually have that program ;)

So what do you think is preventing you, Friend, from doing things like exercising and eating healthy, if you are currently not doing them on a regular basis?

I’m serious, I really want to know.

It boggles my mind that in this day and age there are people who don’t exercise.

It boggles my mind that in this day and age there are people who eat mostly processed foods and not many healthy foods or maybe even none.

I know it’s such a cliche' but your body really is a temple. Don’t you want to treat it well?

Don’t you want to perform at your best?

Don’t you want to age gracefully and not have to take high blood pressure medication, diabetes medication, cholesterol medication, etc.?

Because you do have a choice, for the most part.

Yes, I get it..it’s easier to eat potato chips and sit on the couch and watch Netflix for hours on end.

That’s one of the traps many people fall into.

Those are the same people who at age 60, 65, 70, etc. are taking 4 or 5 medications, can’t get around all that well, can’t walk up stairs, can’t bend down to pick something up off the floor, etc.

  Does that sound like fun?

I think it must be awful.

I've seen it with many elderly people, we all have.

Could you imagine at 60 or 65 or 70 years old, not only just not being on any medications, but also being able to go for a run with your kids? Or ride the waves at the beach? Or hike up the side of a mountain while on vacation?

  How awesome would that be?

And when you just read that last paragraph about doing all of those things at that age did you immediately brush it off and think, “Yeah, that would be great but that won’t be me”.

Or did you read that and think that it will be you?

Can you really picture yourself doing that stuff at that age?

  I most certainly can.

  And I plan on it.

  And it starts now.

I’m not waiting to get into that kind of shape.

I’m in that kind of shape now and I don’t plan on stopping.

  What about you?

What will it take for you to get to that level of thinking?

And then what will it take for you to put that thinking into action?

And once you’re there, will you continue with it?

  I hope.

And if so, we can talk about it while bodysurfing at the beach when we’re in our 80’s.

Kevin
