           THE F.A.T. METHOD

The World's Greatest Weight Loss Program

Hey Friend,

I recently read an article in the New York Times about how breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it should be the biggest meal as well.

The article also talked about intermittent fasting (IF) and how beneficial that is for weight loss.

I was surprised about that. Not because I don’t believe in it. I’ve been Intermittent fasting for the last 15 years or so and I love it.

What surprised me was that about a year ago, maybe less, the NY Times had a whole article on how IF wasn’t any better for weight loss than watching your calorie intake, etc.

  A total contradiction.

The NY Times is a pretty reputable source in most people’s opinions, I believe.

So I totally get it when people say, “I don’t know what to believe, this person tells you one thing and the other person tells you something totally opposite. Eat carbs/don’t eat carbs, eat at night/don’t eat at night, eat breakfast/don’t eat breakfast, etc.

The list goes on and on.

  So who do you believe?

I think you need to decide for yourself. That’s really the only way.

I also think you can get caught up in too much minutiae. The ‘nitty gritty’ details.

Listen, if most of your diet is chips and soda, you shouldn’t even be thinking of intermittent fasting or whether or not you should skip breakfast in order to lose weight.

You should ‘clean up’ your diet first.

  Start with the basics.

Are you eating mostly clean? That means not so heavy on the chips, soda, sweets, etc.

More fruits, veggies, lean proteins and a little bit of starchy carbs.

Get all of that dialed in first, then we can discuss the “other” strategies.

I’ve found what works for me.

When I’m looking to get lean (or just stay lean), I eat more protein, cut back on my “treats” and do some fasting.

I eat my first meal at about 12:00 and my last meal at about 8:00 (on the days I'm not fasting).

I eat 3 times in that time period; lunch, snack, dinner.

I eat pretty much the same thing. So I know how many grams of protein I'm getting. Carbs and fat don't really matter all that much (don't listen to the "experts" who tell you that you need to track all of your macros).

It’s very easy and keeps me lean year round.

Do you know what works for you?

As I've said, once you have the “basics” dialed in, then you can discuss the “other” strategies.

Like breakfast for example. Are you hungry for breakfast? If not, then maybe intermittent fasting might work for you.

There are lots of other strategies too.

But get the basics dialed in first and then we can figure out what other strategies might work for you.
