Hey Friend,
Long time no talk!
Let's jump right in, shall we?
So I saw on Facebook the other day a fitness trainer was promoting their new program about how to count and keep track of your macros in order to lose weight.
If you're unaware, macros are proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
Some fitness trainers/weight loss experts will tell you that in order to lose weight you need to track your macros and hit certain targets every day.
So, as an example that might look like this;
140 grams of protein per day.
120 grams of carbohydrates per day.
50 grams of fat per day.
I call big time B.S. on that!
And I mean BIG TIME!
First off, can you imagine trying to keep track of that every day? And then calculating what foods you eat all day long to make sure you hit those numbers???
"Oh no, I'm 37 grams short of my protein goal for the day, I need to scarf down some grilled chicken".
That doesn't sound like a good way to lose weight to me?!?!?
Or what about if you go out to dinner and you have something you normally don't eat AND the macros are not listed on the menu (which they never are)?
Sounds like you're in trouble then!
Weight loss, when all is said and done, is going to be much easier to achieve when it's easy to adhere to, right?
I have been around the block long enough to know that counting calories and keeping track of your macros is not easy to stick with.
Does anybody really want to do that?
Do you want to do that Friend?
I think I know the answer to that.
So why do so many trainers think that's what people want?
Honestly, I don't think in their heart of hearts that they really think people want to do that.
But I think what they do want to do is make weight loss seem very intricate and complicated so then you hire them to help you with it.
Which is such a shame.
Because I think that's one of the reasons that people have a hard time losing weight.
They think they need to do stuff like that in order to be successful.
I can't stress enough how this couldn't be any further from the truth.
I have cracked the code to weight loss and it has nothing to do with tracking your macros or counting calories.
Ok Friend, thanks for reading!
I hope this cleared up any confusion you may have had on whether or not tracking your macros was necessary to lose weight.
