Subject: Friend, The Death of The Jump Rope?
Friend,
Treadmill, bicycle, elliptical, rower, etc.
Cardio comes in all different forms and styles, right?
What about the old-fashioned jump rope? Did you ever think of jumping rope
as your cardio exercise? Probably not. Once again, it’s certainly not
new, or fancy and you can’t scroll through your phone while doing it.
Jumping rope is one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercise you can do
for yourself.
Think about it for a second. How winded and out of breath do you get from
20 seconds of jumping rope? Probably very.
What sport is most associated with jumping rope? Any guesses?
It’s boxing. Now most of you reading this are probably not boxers, but I
can assure you that boxing in a ring against another opponent for even just
3 minutes is exhausting.
Boxers are some of the most “in shape” athletes you’ll come across.
Now they do a lot more than just jump rope of course, but that is a big
part
of their conditioning. Remember the “Rocky” movies? Remember how much
he jumped rope in those?
In addition to being a GREAT conditioning exercise. I love it for a few
other reasons as well; it’s cheap, you can do it at home, you can travel
with it, etc.
you can train with a jump rope in many different ways. Some examples would
be 10 sets of 25 jumps. Or set a timer for :30 seconds and jump for :30
seconds and then rest for :30 seconds and do 5-10 rounds of that. There are
lots of different ways to incorporate jumping rope into your fitness
regimen.
So if you’re looking to get into better shape or looking to
spice up your cardio training, grab a good jump rope and get to work!
