Is your routine (or lack of) killing your progress?

Let's start right out of the gate by answering that question.

Unbelievably powerful is the answer, without a doubt.

And I'll tell you why.

Most of us are creatures of habit, right? We watch the same TV shows, we listen to the same music, we socialize with the same people, etc. We live our lives the same way from day to day. I know it's not like that 100% of the time, but for the most part it is.

And there is nothing wrong with that. I fall into that category as well.

So if that's the case, why not apply that to your eating and your exercising?

It makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

The working out part is pretty easy. All you have to do is set a goal to workout at the same time each day you work out. I'll use myself as an example. I workout Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I get up at 5:30, leave for the gym at 5:45 and I begin my workout sometime between 6:15 and 6:30 (depending on traffic). Nothing stops me from that. It's my ROUTINE. What you do during your workout is a whole different question. And one that I can help with if you keep reading. :)

But how can a routine work with eating/nutrition you might be asking?

Here's how. And once again I'll use myself as an example.

I'm trying to add some size over the winter so I'm eating more now than I will be in the spring and summer. Here's what my eating looks like:

8:30 Post Workout Breakfast (Protein shake, protein bar and potatoes and eggs)
12:45 Lunch (Grilled chicken or fish, rice and vegetables)
6:00 Dinner (Protein, rice or potatoes, and vegetables)
8:30 Snack (2 rice cakes with peanut butter, handful of nuts, banana)

The point isn't what I eat, it's that I have a ROUTINE and I eat at the same time each day and the same types of food. Is it boring? Not to me it isn't. I enjoy everything I eat and look forward to each meal. AND I know it's getting my closer to my goals of adding muscle.

What's your routine like?

Do you have one?

Most people who don't have a routine, whether it's an exercise routine and/or an eating routine, are not very successful.

Flying by the seat of your pants is not very productive most of the time. And that goes with anything in life.

It's very simple to create your own routine. But remember, it's got to work for you. Don't create a routine that you know you won't be able to stick with.

Use mine as a guideline and something that you can work from.

One of the things that helps me with my eating routine is my customized meal plan. I've mentioned it before and I know you would find it very helpful.

I also follow a set workout plan so I'm not guessing at what to do in the gym.

As luck would have it, there are 2 ways you can give my workout program and customized meal plans a try.
