Hey Friend,
Saturday night's alright for a.....“free” meal.
Not fighting, like Elton John told us back in the 70's!
Ok, so the weekend is upon us.
We’ve all put in a hard week of working, doing homework (with the kids), paying bills, going grocery shopping, chauffeuring kids to practices, piano lessons, etc.
So you “deserve” to let loose this weekend, right?
And what does that usually mean to most people?
It usually means eating and/or drinking unhealthy foods and drink.
Right?
Isn’t that true?
Most of what we do in our society, if we are talking about having a good time, revolves around food.
Not all the time, but a lot.
“Oh man, I just had a rough day at the office, I’ll have a few drinks and some nachos tonight.
I deserve it.”
???????
“It’s been a stressful week, I should treat myself. I’m going to have some ice cream tonight.”
??????
Why is it that the most popular way that we “reward” ourselves is with food?
Why not reward yourself by going to see a movie?
Or buying yourself that book you’ve been wanting to read?
Or getting a massage?
IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE FOOD!
Now hear me out before you think I’m some weirdo who doesn’t understand the importance of food and how it fits into our lives both socially and psychologically.
I get it. I really do.
I love a few beers and nachos as much as the next person.
And I’m not saying you should never have them.
But if you’re interested in losing weight, being toned and being able to look and feel good in a tank topand your bathing suit this summer, then beers and nachos can’t be something you eat everytime you have a stressful week.
That’s why the subject of this email is “SATURDAY night’s alright for a free meal”.
Not Friday, Saturday and sometimes Sunday.
You see what I'm saying Friend?
In fact, I encourage you to have a beer or some wine and nachos (or some other “not so healthy” meal) on Saturday night. Or a cheeseburger and fries, or whatever it is that you love to eat that's not considered "a healthy meal".
But don’t eat crappy on Friday night because you had a stressful week at work…and then eat crappy again on Saturday night because everyone else is….and then again on Sunday because you might as well if you already blew it on Friday and Saturday.
Every once in a while that might be ok, but most people do that every weekend.
Keep yourself in check.
Pick one meal this weekend and have whatever you want.
But that’s it, just one meal.
Your body, your tank tops and your bathing suit will thank you.
Kevin
