Antifa - short for "anti-fascist" - is the name for loosely affiliated, left-leaning groups that profess to have the goal of monitoring activities of local neo-Nazis and "racists." Invariably their gatherings end up drawing a diverse cross section of liberal activists, radical socialists and anarchists protesting everything from Hillary Clinton's election loss, symbols of the Confederacy, attempts to slow or eliminate abortion, perceived racial injustice towards blacks, immigration controls, Christianity, beach erosion, LGBT oppression, climate change, cruelty to animals, the cutting of old growth forests, and generally, to “resist” all things Trump. 

The movement is said to have no unified structure, though the groups are highly effective at organizing gatherings and activities using internet forums and social media platforms such as Facebook.

Antifa protests and "days of action" typically involve disruptive gatherings and rallies, many with bloody riots, assaults and extreme vandalism. In the past they have blocked roads and freeways, set fires to college campus buildings, businesses and vehicles while assaulting police officers with bricks, fireworks and Molotov cocktails. In many recent protests they have begun to employ weapons such as bottles and balloons filled with urine and feces.

The stated purpose of the November 4th protests is to bring an end to the "Trump/Pence regime."
