The official opening of the new US Embassy in Jerusalem is currently scheduled for May 14, 2018. This date corresponds to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. 

The Palestinians call this their their "day of catastrophe."

There is significant potential for additional attacks and violence in the coming weeks as the official opening approaches.

Americans living in or traveling to Israel are urged to maintain a high level of vigilance and security awareness.
