According to Ukraine's national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom, the Zaporizhzhya nuclear plant, which has been controlled by Russian forces since early March, has been disconnected from the national power grid. All phone lines and internet connections with the facility are also down.
The last two working reactors at Europe's largest nuclear power plant were disconnected from the grid after Russian artillery strikes and fire damaged overhead power lines.
Electrical needs of the facility are currently being fulfilled from the Zaporizhzhya thermal power plant. Blackouts are reported in Kherson, Melitopol, Enerhodar and neighbouring towns.
