Security Alert: U.S. Embassy London (December 28, 2023)

Location:  United Kingdom (Countrywide)


Event: During the holiday season there is potential for increased crime and acts of violent extremism. U.S. citizens should exercise extra vigilance at public New Year’s celebrations; holiday festivals, markets, and events; places of worship; demonstrations; and locations with large crowds. Please find additional information and guidance here.


U.S. citizens are encouraged to avoid large crowds and always exercise caution when in crowded public locations. Road closures and public transportation services may be impacted during the holidays, U.S. citizens are encouraged to monitor local transportation information and coordinate travel routes accordingly.

  • Exercise vigilance at holiday festivals and events, places of worship, and locations with large crowds

  • Be aware of your surroundings

  • Review your personal security plans

  • Monitor local media for updates

  • Avoid crowds
