Location: Lebanon

Subject: Lebanon Travel Advisory Reminder

We remind U.S. citizens to strongly reconsider travel to Lebanon. The security environment remains complex and can change quickly.

The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to review the current Travel Advisory for Lebanon. In particular, we call your attention to the Country Summary which advises that the Lebanese government cannot guarantee the protection of U.S. citizens against sudden outbreaks of violence and armed conflict.

U.S. citizens in Lebanon should not travel to southern Lebanon, the Lebanon-Syria border area, or refugee settlements.

Actions to Take:

  • Closely monitor local and international news.

  • Be aware of your surroundings.

  • Avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings.

  • Enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. Embassy to contact you in an emergency.
