Hurricane Idalia forecast to reach CAT 4 at landfall, likely to still be a hurricane moving across south GA. Current max sustained winds of ~110 mph. See email.

From the 11:00PM Forecast Discussion:


"Based on the current strengthening trend and the favorable thermodynamic and oceanic conditions, significant strengthening seems likely up to landfall. The new official intensity forecast calls for Idalia to reach category 4 strength at landfall."


From the 11:00PM Public Advisory:


"Additional strengthening is forecast, and Idalia is expected to become a major hurricane during the next few hours before it reaches the Big Bend coast of Florida. Idalia is likely to still be a hurricane while moving across southern Georgia, and possibly when it reaches the coast of Georgia or southern South Carolina on Wednesday."

National 511 System


On July 21, 2000, the FCC assigned 511 as a nationwide telephone number for intelligent transportation system (ITS) traveler information. Managed by the Federal Highway Admin. (FHWA), the system allows drivers to dial “511" on their phones and receive real-time traffic information. Depending on the time and system load, you will either hear recorded messages or speak directly with a human operator who can provide traffic information.
