Police report a man armed with a handgun attempted to enter Margolin Hebrew Academy located at 390 S White Station Rd in Memphis, TN. When he was stopped by double security doors, he fired multiple rounds at the school, then fled the scene.

Police engaged the suspect a short distance from the school where he was shot and killed.

No information has been released as to the suspect's motive.

Synagogues, Jewish schools and community centers nationwide are stepping up security following the incident.
