Following the deadly overnight attacks at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand which killed at least 40 and injured more than 20, Canadian law enforcement and the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) are urging Canadian Muslim institutions and mosques to review existing security measures ahead of Friday worship services.
Subscribers are reminded that the Islamic Cultural Center of Quebec City was the scene of a mass shooting on the evening of January 29, 2017. Six worshippers were killed and nineteen others injured when a lone gunman (Alexandre Bissonnette) opened fire just before 8:00 pm, shortly after the end of evening prayers.
Subscribers should also note that there is a distinct possibility of reprisal attacks on Christian churches in N. America and Europe as a result of the the New Zealand attack.
Caution and vigilance are urged.
