MSG #1: A shallow M 6.8 earthquake - 14km SSE of Isla Vista, CA (offshore). AlertsUSA monitoring.

MSG #2: USGS now reporting that there was NOT a 6.8 EQ near Isla Vista. Their alert was incorrect. False alert. We are awaiting further explanation.

According to the LA Times, the USGS accidentally issued the alert on an earthquake from 1925.

Unbelievable.
