Important Information about the Joint Meeting of Congress
with the Prime Minister of Israel

On Wednesday, July 24, at 2:00 p.m., the Prime Minister of Israel will deliver an address to a Joint Meeting of Congress.
Since the United States Capitol Police (USCP) was notified of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Department has been working with its’ federal, state, and local partners. For safety reasons, the USCP cannot provide specific security details, but generally the plan includes adding more officers – including from several outside agencies – continuing robust intelligence sharing with the Department’s law enforcement partners and ensuring there are enough resources.
The USCP anticipates a lot of demonstrators to show up. The Department respects everyone’s First Amendment rights, however all demonstrations must be done peacefully and legally. It is illegal to cross an established police line, such as the bike rack barriers that the USCP uses around Capitol Grounds.
For safety reasons, the United States Capitol Police is closing several roads on Capitol Grounds.
The following roads will be closed from 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, through the Prime Minister’s visit:
Pennsylvania Avenue between First Street, NW, and 3rd Street, NW
Maryland Avenue between First Street, SW, and 3rd Street, SW
First Street between Constitution Avenue, NW, and Independence Avenue, SW
The following roads will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, through the Prime Minister’s visit:
First Street between Constitution Avenue, NE, and Independence Avenue, SE
East Capitol Street between First Street and 2nd Street
The following roads will be closed from 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, through the Prime Minister’s visit:
Constitution Avenue between 3rd Street, NW and 2nd Street, NE
First Street between Constitution Avenue, NW and Louisiana Avenue, NW
First Street between the Rayburn House Office Building Garage entrance and Independence Avenue, SW
Maryland Avenue between First Street, NE and Constitution Avenue, NE

Tour Buses Rerouting
All tour buses will be rerouted to Union Station until Thursday, July 25, at 6:00 a.m.
