Supplemental Info:
Adbusters, a Canadian non-profit anti-capitalist organization who started the Occupy movement in 2011 has vowed to 'draw wind' from BLM protests in the U.S. and 'lay siege to the White House' for 50 days. These protests are scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept 17.
Though claiming to want nonviolent protests, the group's website provides questionable suggestions on gear to bring:
"Stuff your backpack with the tools of nonviolent revolution, and bring intelligence to match your enthusiasm."
It is fully expected that these protests will attract elements of every leftist organization and common following, along with counter-protesters, as has been seen at demonstrations and riots across the U.S. throughout the summer.
AlertsUSA urges caution and vigilance if living within or traveling to the District of Columbia and surrounding region.
Increase your level of situational awareness if attending / visiting any of the following: - high-profile public events
- street-level outdoor clubs and restaurants
- tourism infrastructure and tourist sites
Additionally:
- avoid large public demonstrations
- anticipate road closures and delays
- pay attention to local media
Logic would dictate that the size and intensity of protests will vary from day to day, with weekends likely attracting the largest participation.
AlertsUSA will continue to provide additional updates as events warrant.
