Maria has achieve CAT 5 intensity within the last hour and is on track to be the island's first direct hit in decades. Damage could be significant in the Jan Juan area, impacting comms and international air travel.
AT THE PRESENT TIME, this weather system is NOT expected to strike the U.S. mainland though this could very well change with further westward movement.
