May Day - also known as International Worker’s Day - is a day of activism that normally spawns protests around the globe highlighting workers’ rights. International Workers' Day is a public holiday in many countries. While particularly popular in Europe and some Middle East nations, the day is becoming increasingly faddish and trendy in the U.S., as is the propensity for violence and mayhem.
This year, it is expected that many of the U.S. gatherings will be focused on protesting the policies of President Trump, illegal immigrant rights, the border wall, LGBTQ awareness, climate change, minority rights, Supreme Court appointments, police misconduct, etc.. Given the ongoing political rage on the Left, law enforcement agencies nationwide are gearing up disruption of commerce / traffic, clashes, and property damage at many of these gatherings.
Rallies and demonstrations by unions, socialists, anarchists and workers organisations are scheduled to be held tomorrow in cities and towns across the U.S., Canada and Europe. Several right-leaning national groups plan counter-demonstrations at many major gatherings.
