Supplemental Info:

AlertsUSA urges caution going into this weekend.

The DHS NTAS bulletin from June 7, 2022 sums up the situation rather  well:

"In the coming months, we expect the threat environment to become more dynamic as several high-profile events could be exploited to justify acts of violence against a range of possible targets. These targets could include public gatherings, faith-based institutions, schools, racial and religious minorities, government facilities and personnel, U.S. critical infrastructure, the media, and perceived ideological opponents."

"Threat actors have recently mobilized to violence due to factors such as personal grievances, reactions to current events, and adherence to violent extremist ideologies, including racially or ethnically motivated or anti-government/anti-authority violent extremism."

"Foreign adversaries—including terrorist organizations and nation state adversaries—also remain intent on exploiting the threat environment to promote or inspire violence, sow discord, or undermine U.S. democratic institutions. We continue to assess that the primary threat of mass casualty violence in the United States stems from lone offenders and small groups motivated by a range of ideological beliefs and/or personal grievances."

Enjoy the long holiday weekend, but keep your head on a swivel if you are out and about.

Avoid agitated crowds and protests. Always identify exits and other means of egress.

Over the coming months, if you will be attending large gatherings, particularly those with political overtones and/or potential for violence, give consideration to leaving your cell phone at home. Not in your car, not turned off in your pocket, but home.

Why? Because you are trackable.

Many of those in attendance at the Jan 6, 2021 event on the National Mall, and more importantly at the U.S. Capitol, were easily tracked and identified.

If you cannot be without your smartphone, consider purchasing a Faraday sleeve to block wireless signals to and from the device.

Here is one example. There are many others.

Choose when you are discoverable.
