Islamic State social media channels calling for attacks on UEFA Women's EURO 2017 soccer championship (7/16 - 8/6) in the Netherlands. More info via email.

Supplemental Info:

The 2017 UEFA Women's Championship is a quadrennial international football tournament expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors, including thousands from N. America. 16 European national teams will play 31 matches at 7 different venues spread across the Netherlands (Breda, Enschede, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Deventer, Tilburg and Doetinchem) beginning 7/16 and running through 8/6. While security at the venues is expected to be tight, the greater danger is on the multitude of soft targets (less secure) in the host cities, including:

  • high-profile public events, including celebratory gatherings
  • hotels, clubs, and restaurants
  • places of worship
  • schools
  • parks
  • shopping malls and markets
  • tourism infrastructure
  • public transportation systems
  • airports

Caution and vigilance are urged if attending any of these matches, or if you or a family member are simply visiting any of the host cities during the tournament. It is strongly recommended that travelers read the USGOV Europe Travel Alert prior to departure.
