Supplemental Info:
Dear AlertsUSA Subscriber,
There will be no Threat Journal issue published this weekend.
Why?
We were informed earlier in the week of new regulatory changes that will soon take effect within the U.S. telecommunications industry. In a brief summary, 5-digit short codes (such as those from which AlertsUSA messages originate, i.e. 67329, etc..) are being phased out nationally.
These 5-digit short codes will be replaced industry-wide by what are referred to as a 10DLC, or "10-digit long code."
What Does This Mean For AlertsUSA Subscribers?
Nothing.... Aside from the fact that once our 5-digit short codes are deactivated, our alert messages will originate from a 10-digit number (our "10DLC") instead.
Big whoop..
The only thing that will be necessary from your side is to save the new 10DLC in your list of contacts as "AlertsUSA," so as to assure you recognize who is sending you messages....
We will notify you when our 10DLC number is assigned and registered. It should be as simple as you saving the number in your list of contacts, just as you would any other telephone number.
Instead of waiting until the last possible min to make the necessary changes to our servers, we decided to get that work done early. This weekend, our programmers will begin that task.
Thus, no Threat Journal this weekend.
The normal AlertsUSA alert service continues without interruption.
Thank you for your understanding in this situation.
Sincerely,
The AlertsUSA Team
