Supplemental Info:
Federal sources have told AlertsUSA that in the coming days DHS will be issuing an intelligence bulletin to law enforcement agencies nationwide warning of the continuing threat of terrorist actions during the upcoming holiday season.
AlertsUSA subscribers are reminded that one year ago a similar bulletin was issued warning of the ongoing threat from homegrown terrorists with potential targets such as shopping malls, special events, and crowded venues. Locations in Washington, D.C. and Virginia were described as "target-rich zones." Potential tactics they could employ included guns, IEDs, or drones equipped with IEDs.
Additionally, one year ago AlertsUSA subscribers are warned of the release of an issue of the Islamic State's English-language magazine 'Rumiyah', within which supporters were encouraged to carry out vehicle ramming attacks, saying anyone behind the wheel can inflict as much as, or more damage than, a regular military fighter.
"The method of such an attack is that a vehicle is plunged at a high speed into a large congregation of (non-believers), smashing their bodies with the vehicle’s strong outer frame while advancing forward — crushing their heads, torsos, and limbs under the vehicle’s wheels and chassis — and leaving behind a trail of carnage." The publication described New York City’s Macy’s parade as an "excellent target."
More on that issue of Rumiyah can be found here:
AlertsUSA again cautions subscribers that despite the wall to wall news coverage of sex scandals and politics, it is important to keep in mind that the threat of terrorism in N. America and Europe remains extremely high and has not abated. The intelligence community is unanimous in their view that the tempo of attacks will increase as the Islamic State and al Qaeda continue to experience battlefield defeats overseas, as well as unite in their efforts. As such, an increased level of situational awareness and vigilance is urged when out and about over the holidays.
