Israeli officials announce the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, mastermind of the Oct. 7, 2023 attack that triggered the Gaza war. More via email.

Supplemental Info:

Sinwar and two others were encountered by IDF troops during a patrol in the southern Gaza Strip. They exchanged gunfire with the IDF troops and were killed.
Sinwar's death has been confirmed by DNA and fingerprints. Israel has Sinwar's biometric data and DNA from an earlier prison sentence.
Two of Israel’s broadcasters, KAN and N12 News, are citing Israeli officials as saying Sinwar was dead.
Israeli citizens are celebrating in the streets.
