U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm's comments came during this afternoon's White House press briefing.
The Colonial Pipeline transports gasoline and other fuel through 10 states between Texas and New Jersey.
On May 7, 2021, the Colonial Pipeline system reported a ransomware cyber-attack, resulting in a temporary shutdown of the line which the company says delivers roughly 45 percent of fuel consumed on the U.S. East Coast.
Secretary Granholm:
"There should be no cause for hoarding gasoline, especially in light of the fact that the pipeline should be substantially operational by the end of the week."
