Supplemental Info:
The Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is warning companies their data may be at significant risk if they use commercial drones manufactured in China.
"Be cautious when purchasing drone technology from Chinese manufacturers as they can contain components that can compromise your data and share your information on a server accessed beyond the company itself. Manufacturers and vendors can build in malware or collect data from your UAS device without your knowledge."
"Organizations that conduct operations impacting national security or the nation’s critical [infrastructure] functions must remain especially vigilant as they may be at greater risk of espionage and theft of proprietary information."
At present, the full DHS document is not open for public distribution. Those individuals and organizations utilizing commercial drones for national security or the critical infrastructure functions can request access through their Facility Security Officer (FSO) or through the DHS Cyber Information Sharing and Collaboration Program (CISCP).
