Per our earlier note, a key service provider enabling AlertsUSA to route SMS messages to customer mobile devices is experiencing intermittent technical issues. Unfortunately for that provider, the nature of the AlertsUSA service requires immediate resolution.
As a result, AlertsUSA is immediately shifting to a more reliable, fault tolerant means of message delivery.
While much will change on OUR side, the primary difference AlertsUSA customers will see is where alert messages originate.
Normally, alert messages come from a 10-digit number (two-way messaging decks in a data center).
Now, alert messages will originate from a 5-digit shortcode: 81593
Using this new server-based messaging solution, if delivery errors are detected, the message is automatically rerouted to secondary and tertiary long code backup servers. The net result is infinitely more reliable message delivery. ACTION ITEMS:
Using the new system, a test message has already been sent to all subscriber mobile devices.
If you have received the test message, great. The only thing you may wish to do is save the originating number in your contacts under AlertsUSA.
If you DID NOT receive the test message on your mobile device, please send us a quick email so we can debug the situation.
Thank you for your patience as we implement this upgrade. While things normally run very well, occasionally links in the chain break. In such instances, we will move mountains in order to make it right.
Respectfully,
AlertsUSA Customer Service
