Supplemental Info:
Dear AlertsUSA Subscriber,
In early August, AlertsUSA customers were notified of new regulatory changes taking effect within the U.S. telecommunications industry.
Specifically, 5-digit short codes (such as those from which AlertsUSA messages historically originate, i.e. 67329, etc..) are being phased out nationally.
These 5-digit short codes are being replaced industry-wide by what are referred to as 10DLC, or "10-digit long codes."
What Does This Mean For AlertsUSA Subscribers?
Nothing.... aside from the fact that once our 5-digit short codes are deactivated, our alert messages will instead show up on your phones as originating from a 10-digit number (our "10DLC").
When is the Change Taking Place?
For AlertsUSA, the change took place today, Sept 30 at 3:00 PM EASTERN.
The new AlertsUSA 10DLC number is as follows:
833 442 9696
While it looks like a standard telephone number, it is not. The number is linked to computer server dedicated to sending SMS messages through the national wireless infrastructure.
You should have received a test message from AlertsUSA via this 10DLC.
If you did NOT receive the test message from this number, please respond to this email informing us so we can resolve the issue.
We STRONGLY encourage you to save the 10-digit number to your list of contacts as "AlertsUSA," so as to assure instant recognition of who is sending you messages in the future.
Sincerely,
The AlertsUSA Team
