President Trump announced Tuesday night that he will keep the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay open, overriding former President Barack Obama’s official policy to close the facility.

The White House has released the Presidential Executive Order that revokes Obama’s 2009 executive action and indicates the U.S. may transport additional detainees to U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay when lawful and necessary to protect the Nation.
