SEED Madagascar

Hi Friend,
Did you know this is our 20th year anniversary in Madagascar? How time flies! This month, we’re introducing The SEED Big Five of Sainte Luce - five amazing animal species that we work with, and how important they are to the environment and sustainable livelihoods. There’s also a great chance for you to join us from home in our Facebook Live event on World Lemur Day (October 30th). Last but never least, an update from our WASH team on handwashing...
SEED's Big Five of Sainte Luce
SEED began as a conservation organisation and with this year marking our 20 year anniversary we wanted to take our festive appeal back to our roots. This appeal will be highlighting some of the unique and spectacular species that we work with in Madagascar. These species have been chosen by our team, and we hope to introduce you to what makes them so amazing and how important they are to the ecosystem in Madagascar. How many do you recognise?

Join us for a live lemur talk!
Friday 30th October is World Lemur Day, and the SEED team will be marking the day with a series of events, both in Madagascar and online. In Sainte Luce, we’ll be screening a Madagascar wildlife documentary to children from the village and visiting officials.

You can join in from home too! Follow us on Instagram for lemur trivia, or watch our Facebook Live video from 14:00 - 15:00 GMT with Forestry Specialist Sam Ambler.
World Handwashing Day
Clean hands were the order of the day last week when SEED celebrated World Handwashing Day across the whole Anosy region. Mamitiana and the team were out in force doing hand washing demonstrations, competitions with soap for rewards, radio broadcasts and of course, lots of celebrations. With over 17,000 people trained in handwashing and over 11,000 people trained in building contactless handwashing stations, we’re doing everything we can to raise awareness of the health benefits of good handwashing.
