Subject: 64 years old and still learning... 🧡

Reading and writing for the first time...

Madame Honorine lives in the rural community of Sainte Luce, southeast Madagascar. At 64 years old, she now has the opportunity to read and write for the first time, allowing her to track sales and manage the wider running of the Mahampy Weavers' Cooperative.

Donate to give more women the same opportunity.

and that's not all...

Monitoring the mahampy wetlands

The Mahampy Weavers' Cooperative create stunning hand woven items using mahampy reeds from the fragmented wetlands of Sainte Luce.

To ensure the longevity of this livelihood source in ever-changing conditions, learning the most effective methods of growing mahampy is crucial. The women now manage this research themselves, sourcing this vital material in sustainable ways to ensure the health and survival of these at-risk wetlands.

Enrolling in a money saving scheme

In addition to financial resilience training, SEED has also established a saving scheme for the women of the cooperative, allowing them to securely save the money generated from sales of their products. Shock-responsive solutions to unexpected costs!
