In the noteworthy news this week:

Condos are booming in the Phoenix metro area, with prices up 17% this year. They're drawing empty nesters who want less maintenance, and Millenials that can't afford a single family home.

There are quite significant differences in projected appreciation around the United States. To quote Jim Morrison, "the west is the best." It's clear that the Western United States is the hot spot in our country's real estate. Phoenix is no exception, with strong appreciation predicted in coming months.

Remodeling is happening at a pace not seen in over 20 years. This makes a lot of sense, given that in many markets, remodeling is a more cost-effective option for improving one's housing than buying another home. 

Phoenix fine dining is having growing pains. I've served on the board of the Phoenix chapter of the International Wine & Food Society for a decade, and been privileged to know many of the chefs cited in this article. I'm also acutely aware of the struggles they face.

Please, please support our local restaurants, and the fine chefs who dedicate their time and take great financial risks to serve us.
