The Knight Frank 10th Annnual Wealth Report was recently released. The survey of high net worth wealth advisors and private bankers is always a fascinating read.

This year, it revealed a trend for ultra high net worth investors (defined as $30 million+ of investible assets): they're hot on real estate.

30% reported they plan to buy a residential property in 2016, and 40% plan to increase their asset allocation to real estate over the coming decade. For more details, click here for the Wall Street Journal's coverage.

It isn't terribly difficult to imagine why people are heading toward real estate: the wild gyrations in financial markets have made people skittish.

Even the safe haven of bonds isn't so safe anymore. As Bill Gross pointed out recently, “a 30-year Treasury at 2.5% can wipe out your annual income in one day with a 10 basis point increase.” 

Nothing is perfect, and real estate certainly has had its run in recent years, but it appears to many to be the most reliable and predictable asset in an unpredictable world.

Closings
Another stellar week, even better than the last, with sales of nearly $26 million. Average price was over $2.1 million and $392 per square foot -- for homes with an average age of 31 years! These are very strong numbers indeed.
