Hey Friend,

If you're using Facebook ads to generate quit smoking leads but you are relying solely on Boosted Posts, then you're leaving A LOT of money on the table!

Here's why…

Before you ever run any type of Facebook Ads (or any paid ads for that matter) you ALWAYS want to make sure you have your Facebook Pixel on all of your pages, and you are creating Custom Audiences of all the options available to you.

For example, you want to create custom audiences of the people who:

  • Viewed your opted in page.
  • Viewed your Thank You Page.
  • Viewed your booking page.
  • Viewed your main website home page, and other pages on your website.
  • Watched percentages of your video, if you're using video in your ads. (15 Secs - 95%)
  • Opened but didn't submit their info into your lead form. (If using Lead Ads)
  • Opened and did submit their info into your lead form. (If using Lead Ads)
  • Engaged with your Facebook page.
  • Or even upload a list of your previous/current clients.

You create these custom audiences in the Audiences section of your Ads Manager.

And the reason why you MUST create these custom audiences BEFORE you EVER run Facebook Ads is because you can use these custom audiences to create Lookalike Audiences, and to also set up Retargeting Ads.

Let me explain…

Firstly Lookalike Audiences for improved targeting, reviving a dying campaign, and increased revenue:

One of my core strategies for dialling in my targeting and ensuring I put my ads in front of fed up smokers who want to quit is to run a broad targeting campaign to begin with, and I let this run for say 30 days or so, or until the cost per lead rises too much.

In these 30 days I am building up all those custom audiences I mentioned previously.

So now that I have built these custom audiences I can then tell Facebook to show my ads to people who are very similar to the people who clicked on the ad, or the people who submitted their info, or the people who booked a call, or the people who watched 75%+ of the video in my ad, or my past/current clients, etc.

So now when the lead costs start to slowly rise too high after running the ads for some time, I simply switch it over to a specific lookalike audience and the cost per lead DROPS, and it refreshes my campaign while continuing to dial in my targeting!

Lookalike audiences are GOLD and if you're not using them you are leaving A LOT of money on the table!

Next we have Retargeting Ads:

Ok so now that we are creating these custom audiences, this gives us the ability to create specific retargeting ads to follow up with the people who clicked on the ad but didn't submit their info, or who watched 75%+ of the video in my ad but for whatever reason didn't submit their info on that day.

We know these people are interested because they clicked on the ad, and/or watched a certain percentage of our video, etc.

So now we can create retargeting ads to basically follow these people around on the internet and show them your testimonials, give them valuable info about how you help people quit smoking, and ultimately build that relationship so when they do decide to quit smoking YOU are the specialist they choose.

Here is an example of a Testimonial Ad:

We have a lot of options for increasing the revenue generated from our Facebook ads when we LEVERAGE these Custom Audiences.

If you're just relying on Boosted Posts, there is a good chance you don't even know these custom audiences even exist!

The only reason I can think of for why someone would rely solely on boosted posts is because maybe the Facebook Ads Platform is a little too intimidating, but it's really very simple once you learn the foundations.
