Hi Friend, It has been a strange couple of weeks. I resigned as Chief Executive of pro-manchester at the September Board meeting after nine years in the role. Really weird. A sense of relief on the one hand and a strange disconnect on the other.
First let me say, I am extremely pleased that Sam Booth has taken over the job. Sam has worked with the organization for eleven years. Many people think Sam already runs pro-m. When the list began to include me, I thought the time had come to step aside!
We are all extremely excited about the future of this great company. I am also pleased with everything we have achieved over the years. I would like to thank everyone including members, team and board directors for assisting in that success.
I was appointed
as CEO of pro-manchester in October 2009. I have enjoyed nine years in
the role. During that time, I have worked with a close team of senior
managers, to transform pro-manchester from a loss making, members
organization, dependent on public sector funding, into a profitable,
professional B2B company, private sector funded, with an outstanding
reputation for events, marketing and business development.
I
reorganized the board of pro-manchester from a members committee of over
twenty non exec directors into a professional board, including
a balance of executive and non executive directors. The highest standards
of corporate governance apply, with the correct systems and procedures
in place as befits a contemporary board room.
It's not the biggest company I have run, but in terms of complexity and stakeholder engagement, it most certainly ranks among the largest ever!
So what happens next? I intend to continue with The Saturday Economist, Dimensions of Strategy, the Case Study Series and the Financial Market Analysis. I am in discussions to publish a series of books on strategy. But that's not enough for me!
I am now seriously interested in discussing non exec positions as Chair or NED. I would relish a turn round or change challenge. Want to know more? Check out the link : John Ashcroft in the Board Room
