I was married in June, 2006 in the Philippines, and in that year, my dreams of becoming a mother were shattered with my first miscarriage. Due to my age, 23 years old, I was told not to worry as it would not affect my ability to become a mother in the future. However, another miscarriage followed in 2007, and I had difficulty getting pregnant afterwards so my husband and I sought help from an infertility specialists.
In 2008, I began reading articles about Saint Gianna. Those testimonies, from all over the world, gave me hope. I started praying her novena, wishing that I, too, would be blessed by her intercession. In 2009, my husband and I were
planning to visit my uncle in New Jersey for the Christmas holiday. Just before our trip, I learned I was pregnant again for the third time, and this
time I kept in touch with the online community of Saint Gianna’s shrine.
Unfortunately, prior to our flight, I had another miscarriage. Again, I was on an emotional rollercoaster, and I prayed for guidance. Upon arriving at my uncle’s house, he mentioned that a package had arrived for me. The package contained a keychain and a book about Saint Gianna from the Board of Directors of the Society of Saint Gianna. In that moment, holding those items, emotions overwhelmed me as I felt Saint Gianna’s presence. My uncle and aunt volunteered to drive me to her Shrine. A Board of Director member from the Shrine met me after Mass, and I was given the opportunity to hold Saint Gianna’s relic (gloves) to my womb. At that time, I vowed that I would devote my prayers to Saint Gianna and my first-born daughter would be named Gianna.
In 2012, I learned I was pregnant with twins through a natural process without any medical intervention. A true miracle, indeed! Every day I prayed to Saint Gianna to help me give birth to two healthy children. I had a very difficult pregnancy, as I was on bed rest for 6 months due to my elevated blood pressure. However, on January 6, 2013, with the intercession of Saint Gianna, I gave birth to premature babies, Anthony Carlyle and Gianna Lily. At my request, my Novena pamphlet remained at my side to help me through the perils of my C-section. Thank you, Saint Gianna, for the blessing of my two beautiful and healthy babies--Anthony and Gianna! Your intercession truly produced two miracles!!!
