GROOVE PLC; SUNDAY 27 JAN 5.30PM
Groove PLC is a brand new band that formed in mid 2018 from three remaining members of The Soul Funk Junkies (Zoe - vocals, Chris - guitar and Ken - drums). They auditioned for a new bass player mid 2018 and Rob was recruited. They immediately began rehearsing old and new material to form a live set, still focusing on funk and soul but looking to add new material from artists such as Chaka Khan, Level 42, The Chimes and Paul Young.
Phil joined the band in late 2018 to joined Zoe on vocals. Together they bring a new vocal dynamic to the band and open it up to a broader range of material. As a collective the band have over 100 years of live playing and performance experience.
The band is very much looking forward to playing the Dog and Partridge, an old stomping ground for some of the members and an opportunity to test run this new band. The intention is to expand the repertoire and instruments within the band throughout 2019 as well as increase their live set and performances. Technology has been used to expand the sound to bring a more authentic experience for the audience on some of the songs.....what does that mean??? You need to be there to experience it!
THE MOST UGLY CHILD; SUNDAY FEB 3RD 5.45PM The Most Ugly child are a six piece band influenced by Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt and George Jones to Tom Waits with little bit of Led Zeppelin thrown in.There is an edgy realness to everything they sing and play with a natural depth of feeling rather than having been subjected to any overt polishing or sanitization. This their third visit to the D&P, if you caught them on previous visits you already know what great things to expect, if it's your first time seeing this band where the hell have you been?
