Marchington Music Club
Sunday's visit from DOUBLE CROSS was a pleasant surprise, they were every bit as good as I heard they were and hopefully they may be back soon (possibly the next MELEE in August!!),it’s great when something special comes out of the mix!
This week yet another newcomer in the form of BRAD DEAR who has been cropping up everywhere at festivals recently, now he joins us this coming Sunday!
Brad Dear: - Singer/Songwriter/Musician from Southwell, Nottinghamshire, UK
Born (29th October 1994) Brad started his solo acoustic career in September 2011, having played and music all of his life, he started writing and producing his own music from the age of 16. Heavily influenced by artists such as the likes of "The Levellers"(being the first concert he attended at the tender age of 6), "Bob Marley", "Flogging Molly", "The Foo Fighters", "Bob Dylan", "Neil Young" and "Ben Howard". Brad's genre of music is Folk/Rock.
Very shortly after Brad's solo career started he wrote a song called "Course of Life" which he donated to "Help For Heroes". Produced by himself alongside Dave Taylor and Tony Foster (Spiritualized), with all proceeds of selling the single going to the charity. HMV Nottingham helped him promote his single in store for a week after its release, which then took him to live radio interviews with BBC Radio Nottingham & Mansfield, allowing him to promote himself and his strong beliefs of the charity. This gave him the opportunity to work very closely along side Rally For Heroes and play solo gigs across Europe.
Swiftly moving on, Brad formed a band and built up a strong reputation on the independent festival scene playing events such Dot to Dot and Tramlines alongside a diverse range of artists including Wolf Alice, Peace, Billy Bragg and Public Enemy. More recently Brad was asked to perform at Nottingham's Rock City for the Twenty One Pilots gig after party. Currently, Brad is in the studio with a full band, working on new recordings with Jason Hart (Jake Bugg/Kitchenware Records) as Producer. The most recent track 'Special Brew' can be heard on Brad's home page: www.braddearmusic.co.uk
Brad Dear is always performing with his band, or acoustic and all the latest gigs can be found on his site. You can see and listen to video’s on his website so you can get some idea as what to expect (strangely our date is missing off the gig guide but I am assured he’s coming!!!)
