FLINT, MOORE & BYRNE
SUNDAY 8TH JULY 5.45 PM
This is 'Our Story'
So Far.....
When I started going to the Open Mic Night at the Old Poets Corner in Ashover, Derbyshire 4 or 5 years ago with Andy Flint, I was totally undecided about what I wanted to do next, playing wise. Andy and I had got together a few times at our local, The Dixies Arms in Bagthorpe, Notts, basically just to sit around and run through a few acoustic tunes. We liked a lot of the same kind of music, namely The Eagles, Crosby, Stills & Nash, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Ryan Adams....To name a few.
One chance Tuesday evening meeting at the Poets with Shaun Byrne, who asked if he could sit in with us and I was hooked on Shaun’s vocal ability and how he immediately complimented Andy and myself playing wise.
We collectively decided to write a few songs down with a view to performing a few more at the Open Mic Night. Quite a number of the songs on our list were the same. For me , this was a sign that we should pursue our enjoyment of each others’ company and take our musical journey a stage further. The name was simple enough. Someone at our local had christened Andy and myself “The Flint Moore Brothers”. Flint, ‘More & Byrne just seemed so right! Everything that we do collectively is just so much fun. From deciding our songs, rehearsing them deciding who’s going to do what, through to getting to perform them live.
We’ve also recently started writing together, whilst adding input to existing original songs. We’re also widening our on stage instruments too. What started off as just 3 acoustics has grown into all of us playing harmonica in the live set, along with dobro, mandolin, banjo and ukulele. One of our highlights so far has to be supporting Paul Carrack. A local promoter saw us and decided that our repertoire would be perfect compliment to Sheffield’s famous son!
We continue to enjoy playing more and more, whilst pushing ourselves and encouraging each other at the same time. We all know our limits as individuals...Collectively, as Flint, ‘More & Byrne, this is the sky....
If you like your music on the American AOR (adult orientated rock) tip, lots of Eagles, America, Seventies soft Rock
On an acoustic tip then this is the gig for you and it’s worth sweating it out as you are in for a treat!!
ACOUSTICA
SUNDAY 15TH JULY 5.45pm
Sadly at the ill fated Beer Festival in March due to snow (talk about adverse weather conditions this year or what?), FM&B were snowed in but Acoustica defied the elements and played in pub on the Saturday, well they are back again with a ton of pop and rock covers in a Rootsy stylee!
