MARCHINGTON MUSIC CLUB (Sundays from 5.30pm)
|
| As part of the beer festival we have invited back the Shelter for a third visit on Sunday from 5.30 pm
The following week it’s Bank Holiday time and so it seems appropriate that for most there is no work on the Monday, so why not put on a band that delivers the hits and keeps everyone happy, we’ve found just the band……
THE SOUL FUNK JUNKIES!!
Soul Funk Junkies was formed in 2010, musicians were hand-picked for their skills, experience and their desire to entertain, playing local venues including Derby Assembly Rooms. The band has also played otherprestigious venues such as the Blackpool Tower Ballroom as well as many corporate functions. The ethos for the band has always been to hold the audience at the forefront of the performance playing a wide repertoire of material geared to encourage dancing and general merriment. Chris Shaw (Guitar) Chris founded the band after twenty years on the circuit supporting artistes such as Edwin Starr, Jimmy James, Jackie Graham and Imagination to name but a few. Zoe McLeish (Vocals) Zoe came from a professional background singing in a 4 piece band touring the length and breadth of the UK, and delivers a powerful soulful vocal which has to be heard to be believed and exudes an infectious stage presence which wins audiences’ hearts from the first note to the last. Dean Brentnall (Percussion) Dean (Deano) joined the band after gaining a wealth of experience playing on theHoliday Camp circuits as well as prestigious entertainment venues, he brings a certain flamboyance to the performance and enhances the music with skilled and sensitive percussion. Fil Anderson (Bass Guitar/ Vocals) Fil has an exceptional talent as a Bass player and vocalist, he has played on the professional circuits in the UK and Europe, most notably as a session musician for Warner Brothers performing at venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Wembley, NIA and NEC Birmingham. Ken Cartledge (Drums) Ken brings calmness and discipline to the band, an exceptional drummer active during the Manchester scene in the 90s - 2000s Ken has been a member of SFJ for just under a year but has contributed to the bands performances with his energy and dedication to his art. Putting a bit of soul into your Sunday, fun starts around 5.30pm, one not to miss!

FOOD
CHRISTMAS DAY / FAYRE MENUS
The Christmas day places are selling well, already half full now would be a good time to start giving some thought to booking if you are thinking of joining us, it was completely sold out by October last year.
The Christmas Fayre menus will go live on the website this week and you will be able to call in the pub and pick up hard copies or we can mail them to you!
NEW MENU
Yes it’s that time of year when we give our menu a re-vamp. We promise you the firm favourites will stay and some new dishes will appear.
With our new menu planning we will be even more flexible and will be able to add and remove dishes at the drop of a hat and with our new larger kitchen team, we hope to continue to deliver good quality home-cooked food (not a ding in sight!)
The kitchen is also about to undergo a bit of revamp too, there maybe a few days closure in the early part of the week to allow building work to progress but we hope to keep this to a minimum!
MONTHLY FISH NIGHT
As explained earlier we will be closed for one night on 25th August, the last Friday of the month that is also traditionally fish night, sorry folks, it will return at the end of September!!!
