New Paradigm for Banner Lovers


As you know, I'm a big proponent of using ACTIVE traffic (SuperSolos, Solos, Credit Mails) to get the best results, but there are many people out there who absolutely love BANNERS.  Banners are easy, require little skill if you use PREMADE banners from your affiliate sites, and are cheap (for actual cost in cash or ads clicked to get sufficient credits).


Banner Advertising has many advantages, namely it is set and forget. Or at least that's what they tell you.


Because banners are ALWAYS given away as incentives to join safelists, banner advertisers tend to join LOTS of safelists, just to post the free ads.  They rarely record the site URLs or their login information, or record which ads are posted on which sites, so once these banners are out there, they are NEVER revisited to change or update. 


Banner advertisers rarely UPDATE or DELETE expired or invalid banners if banner images are changed or target URLs are obsolete (ie if an affiliate program moves to a different server or the script is updated).


RESULT: Safelists are LITTERED with bad banner images and bad target URLs, so VIEWERS don't bother clicking them for credits. 


In the hierarchy of clicking rewards, banner clicks are very low on the list:

  • Supersolos (with 2x and 3x during happy hour)

  • Admin Solos

  • HP Solos, Solos, SetNForget Solos

  • Sponsor Ads, Daily Bonus, 600x300 Login Ads

  • 468x60 Banners

  • 125x125 Buttons

  • Textlinks


In fact, as admin of over 200 safelists, banners are the LEAST effective advertising method and require the MOST admin time and effort to keep the integrity of safelist ads high.  Nothing worse than logging on to a site where half the images are bad or have dead-end target URLs.


Because banners are so cheap, this behavior has a collateral effect of further reducing the effectiveness of banner advertisement. 


It's simple math: you have 500 members on the site and each of those 500 members have 10 banners. That's 5,000 banners that are in rotation. (We'll actually multiply that by some factor of 100 because some people have literally hundreds of banners out there).  If 10 percent of the members login daily, and they view an average each of 10 pages where banners are displayed, that is 500 banner views daily (actually WAY lower in reality).  That means it would take 10 days to go ONCE through the rotator queue.


Ways to Streamline YOUR Efforts, Reduce Costs, and Manage Your Banners.


If you want to be an effective banner advertiser, and if you change programs that you promote often, that means that you would have to go to every single site that you're advertising on, and either change or add new banners to that site.

Here is the process


Instead of posting the affiliate bannerurl and targeturl in each SAFELIST, I want you use HitsConnect to create a BANNER IMAGEURL TRACKER and BANNER TARGETURL TRACKER that REPRESENT those urls for each banner.


When posting banner adds to a safelist, you post the BANNER IMAGEURL TRACKER as the bannerurl and BANNER TARGETURL TRACKER as the targeturl.


Now here is the slick advantage:  To change either bannerurl or targeturl, I simply change it in HitsConnect, and that change AUTOMATICALLY PROPAGATES to EACH SAFELIST where I have the BANNER TRACKER URL PAIR posted.

  • and the remainder to rotate specific 468x60 affiliate clusters (BigDogs, WorldProfit, Traffic Sites, My Safelists, Viral Mailers)

I can add and delete my BANNER TRACKERS from each rotator with just a couple clicks.


Real Life Example - Business Continuity


The disastrous Texas power outages in 2021 wreaked havoc on my banner ads and landing pages. I like to create my OWN unique banner, button, and login ad images rather than using the same-old images EVERYBODY ELSE uses and likewise with my custom landing pages.  Most of my images and many of my landing pages were hosted on GVO, located in Texas.  All 4 of my blogs, my landing pages, and my image assets were simply unavailable. 


Fortunately, I have hosting by OTHER geographically diversified providers who were not effected, and I had a relatively recent backup of all my GVO sites that I downloaded to my offline storage, so inside of 15 minutes, all my images and landing pages were uploaded to the new host and available.  The problem was that all the safelists showing my ads had to be updated with the new domain name.


By having my URL Trackers CENTRALLY MANAGED and Banner Trackers CENTRALLY MANAGED in HitsConnect, all I had to do for banners was update the imageurl and targeturl, redirecting them to the new domain name.  Landing pages were a bit more complex, but the same process was used to redirect them.


While everybody else was out of business, inside of 1 hour I had 90% of my business operational, my ads showing, getting signups, and yes, even earning commissions (true story).


Example 2 - Create My Own Banner Image


I start out posting the out-of-the-box affiliate banner until I get time to make my own creation.  Because I posted the BANNER IMAGEURL TRACKER and BANNER TARGETURL TRACKER URLs, when I create my own banner I simply go into HitsConnect to update the bannerurl with the new banner image address.


Example 3 - Create My Autoresponder​ Message Stream and Landing Page


I start out posting the out-of-the-box affiliate referral ID until I get time to create the Autoresponder message stream and landing page(s).  Because I posted  the BANNER IMAGEURL TRACKER and BANNER TARGETURL TRACKER URLs, when I create my landing page, I simply go into HitsConnect to update the targeturl with the new landing page address.


Example 4 - Create My Own Holiday Campaign


I often run holiday specials.  I create the holiday banner and  custom landing page for the special.  Because I posted the BANNER IMAGEURL TRACKER and BANNER TARGETURL TRACKER URLs,  I simply go into HitsConnect to update the bannerurl with the new banner image address and the targeturl for the landing page.  After the holiday special is over, I just change them back.
