So you have this list of leads. It contains all kinds of email addresses: Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc

Everybody tells you that you should only send to Gmail addresses, otherwise your email will just bounce.

How do you get this list to contain only Gmail addresses?

Solution

If you have a Gmail account (YOU SHOULD) you have access to Google Sheets. Sheets is a free spreadsheet very much like Excel that allows you to do typical spreadsheet functions that can help you filter down this list so it only contains Gmail addresses.  You can view the video, and follow along using the insructions below.

 

• First open up your Google Sheets to a new sheet.
   
• Import the CSV file containing all your addresses you want to filter out to only Gmail addresses.
   
• Make sure you have a header line (for example firstname, lastname, email)
   
• Select all columns that have data
   
• Click the filter icon on the icon bar (looks like a funnel)
   
• Go to the column where your email addresses are.  Pull down the box and set the filter to does not contain Gmail
   
• The list displayed will not have any Gmail addresses.  Just highlight all those rows and delete them
   
• Go back up to the icon bar and turn off the filter
   
• The list that you're left with has only Gmail addresses
   
• Export that list. File Export to a CSV file

CAUTION

DO NOT EMAIL this list fom Gmail.  That is SPAM.  You must get email confirmation which then gives you permission to send emails to them.

CAVEAT

Most autoresponders do not allow the import of leads from external lists. There are three Autoresponders I use that DO allow imports with some restrictions:  ListGeniePro,  RapidMailer, and Sendiio

Only leads that are CAPTURED ORGANICALLY through lead capture pages or landing pages or are supplied by REPUTABLE lead vendors like MyLeadGenSecret or LeadFlow247 are permitted.
