Tropical storm Isaiah hit our area yesterday, dumping about 5 inches of rain, with flooding, and power outages.

I anticipated power problems, so, as a BUSINESS, I planned for some contingencies, like getting my important promos out early.

My daily promotions for Secrets of the Big Dogs only take a maximum of 30 minutes per day.  I zipped through my promos in just 20 minutes.

 

The Storm

We did in fact lose power at 11am for 13 hours.  My problem is that I have a finished basement, and as long as I can get power restored within an hour or so, my sump pump and drains are OK.  Beyond that with the massive rainfall, and I have a problem. 

Well, the water alarms sounded about noon, telling me that I needed to take action.  We formed a bucket brigade and filled every container we could find with the continually rising drain water.  Thank goodness by brother-in-law came to the rescue with his generator.  Plugged in the sump pump to an extension cord, cranked up the generator, problem solved.

Water damage was minimal - a 5 foot square section of carpet got wet - one of the containers filled from our bucket brigade efforts leaked.  No biggie.

I did get some fantastic news after power and the internet was restored the following morning:  I had made a BigDogs sale to a new member as a result of my promotions yesterday.
