I found the above image online. It shows the pineal gland in red.
The gland is pointing with the narrower portion towards the top of the head or crown. It is sitting above the medulla oblongata, which is the fist-like structure beneath it. This is a side view with the back of your head to the right.
So the pineal gland is sitting on an angle facing forwards and upwards.
If you look carefully at a large pine cone, the cone doesn't really come to a point. (See image below.)
