Subject: Be in the 5%, 10%, 15%

I learned a few strong lessons in a seminar today. Most of it I knew. Maybe you do too.
  1. Take responsibility for your actions. Move away from the blame game and the justify me game
  2. The Pareto Principle works like the law of gravity - get it wrong and it hurts.
I want to talk about the Pareto Principle. I see it in my emails all the time. Low response rates and little action.

The big kicker is there are layers within the layers. We all know that 20% of the effort produces 80% of the result. Let's think about sales
  • 80% of sales comes from 20% - so out of 1,000 people
  • 50% of sales come from 8 people
  • 4% buy 64%
  • 1% buy 50%
The big learning is to work it. If you only do two tasks a day, best make sure they are focused on the 1% that might buy 50%, or the 4% that might buy 64%, or just the 20% - ignore the rest. Work out how to avoid spending time on tyre kicker 80%.

Now there is homework for you. Hit reply and tell my why you believe you are not a tyre kicker. Tell me what you like from the stuff I share. Of course there is the unsubscribe button. Choose which 1% you are in but whatever you do apply Pareto in your life. Be the 1 or 5% that take action.
