| | | An Update From Resound NW
Dear Resound NW Community,
Hello! Greetings from this unprecedented time we find ourselves in!
I wanted to take a moment to update you about Resound NW. As many of you know, we made the transition to online lessons and classes last month in response to social distancing measures. This transition has been at times hilarious and challenging, but mostly exciting, hopeful, and a little surreal! Thank you so much to the dozens and dozens of students who have made this transition with us! What a ride!
All of our staff are now offering private lessons online, and also we are offering our SoulSinging classes and other group classes online. It has been an inspiring time full of connection, music, and new beginnings. We are thrilled to continue connecting with you with this new format. Amazingly, online lessons work great, and the singing and music-making lives on. We love seeing your faces and hearing your music. And we are happy to welcome new students to lessons and classes, as always. If you've been wanting to sing or play music, now is a great time to start!
Many of you have kindly checked in with me about the status of our business during this time. Thank you so much for your concern. These are unusual times for a small business such as ours. I am so grateful for the ability to do lessons and classes online. However, part of our business is also renting our studio space. We have many people who use our studio for concerts, workshops, lessons, and other events. This part of our business has suffered greatly, understandably. The greatest threat to our business at this time is the long-term viability to continue renting our facility. Thankfully, the owner of the property has already extended some flexibility to us. We are hopeful that we will be able to work with them to maintain tenancy in our beautiful studio space for many years to come. We will keep you updated about this. Resound NW as an entity is stable for the long term, and we aren't going anywhere!
And now, some really exciting news: we are going to be connecting with a Virtual Studio Gathering this Sunday! As our students and teachers continue to make music, they've prepared some beautiful music to share with you via video.
Additionally, our SoulSinging classes are highly motivated to continue singing together, so we have come up with a fun and creative solution. We have created a "virtual choir." Each class member has recorded their voice parts separately and I have assembled them together with recording software. Through the magic of modern technology, they sound just a beautiful as always with this new format. We will be premiering our "virtual choir" recordings at the Studio Gathering Sunday.

| | | Resound NW Studio Gathering and (Virtual) Concert
Sunday, April 19, 7:30pm
Join the Resound NW community in celebrating the music from our students and instructors. Featuring a variety of performances from private students and SoulSinging classes. This event will also feature the premiere of the SoulSinging "virtual choir" which allows our large group of singers to "perform" together via the magic of recording.
We will be meeting via Zoom. The link and password for this event are private. Email us and we are happy to send you the link and password, or you may obtain it from any of our private instructors.
If you are new to Zoom, it's easy! Once you have the link, you can log in via computer, smart phone, or tablet. The link will prompt you to download a small app for your device, and then you're good to go! Let us know if you have any questions.

*SoulSinging has transitioned to online learning with weekly virtual classes and variety of online musical community offerings. Classes are open to new participants starting April 22 and 23.*

What is SoulSinging?
SoulSinging is an innovative group singing journey that is equal parts choir, singing class, and supportive community. While exploring exciting and diverse musical styles, this group empowers participants to be holistic, mindful singing artists. Focusing on the skills and attention required to create dynamic ensemble performances, participants will learn the potency of singing together.
SoulSinging includes the following:
*Weekly classes with engaging group and solo singing and occasional public performances
*Diverse musical styles rich in harmony, rhythm, and inspiring lyrics, such as folk music from around the world, classical choral music, contemporary pop, musical theater, jazz, and group improvisation
*Opportunities to hone your skills both as an ensemble singer and as a solo artist
*A supportive and safe cohort of people with whom to learn and take new risks
*Extensive individual and group coaching from the Resound NW staff to work on your musical skills. The Resound NW staff has years and years of experience teaching voice and performing professionally. We have taught hundreds and hundreds of people from all walks of life to sing.
*Observe the measurable progress happening with your voice and the voices of the other students in your group
Ultimately, we will learn that we are not alone. We will learn that there is endless possibility with our singing. And we will unlock the full potential to express ourselves through our voices.

Time: Wednesday evenings, 7:30-8:30pm
Level: Advanced
CLASS C
Time: Thursday mornings, 10:00-11:00am

"I think SoulSinging is superb and Daniel is a complete delight as a teacher. I’m happy to report that this class was even better than I had hoped it would be. The instructor, Daniel, made me feel very welcome from the minute I walked in the door and the sense of community was very apparent as everyone seemed genuinely glad to have me there. I loved the warm up and the round of singing games that were played at the beginning of class. Everyone participated and it was a blast. Daniel has a talent for picking the correct song for your voice so you actually feel comfortable. The entire group is extra warm and supportive so that anyone will feel successful."

Upcoming Song Studio Classes
*Song Studios classes are currently meeting virtually via Zoom. Registration is open online for participants and observers.*
"Song Studio" is a performance class where Resound NW students perform a song they have prepared and receive valuable coaching on their performance. The class includes a mini-lesson for each student.
This class is fun, low-key, and an exciting way to learn about the craft of singing!
