"I'm so busy that I HAVE to sing today"
A Message from Daniel Buchanan
|
| Last week, I had a private student come in for a lesson. She walked in a little harried and stressed and said, "Whew! This is such a busy week. I'm so busy that I HAD to come here and sing today."
It might seem counter-intuitive, but I really understand what this student meant. Sometimes it's easy to think that when life gets so busy, we need to clear up time by cutting out the things that make us feel good. It's like we think taking care of ourselves is the "icing on the cake" instead of a fundamental part of our well-being.
I'd like to think that I can make the self-care things of my life the FIRST priority, not the extra credit. I don't want to think, "If I have time, I'll do some meditation" or "If I finish all my work, I'll go for a hike."
Easier said than done, right?
What if taking care of ourselves was the foundation upon which we build our life?
This is why we chose to offer a special singing event this Friday. We've brought in a special guest to create a peaceful respite in the midst of our busy lives.
Kiranjot Kaur is a world-class singer, a healer through song, and a musician deeply passionate about bringing music into our world as an act of calm and centering.
A founding member of the legendary group Copper Wimmin, Kiranjot has been creating music and spinning melodies with her voice for decades. Just listen to this haunting music!
This Friday, we'll have the chance to gather at Resound NW to sing together, find a calm in the midst of the storm. This event is more than just a concert, it's a chance to sing together and share melodies and mantras in a healing and communal environment. Read the details here.
Because sometimes, life is so busy that you HAVE to sing.
Regards, Daniel Buchanan

"I think SoulSinging is superb and Daniel is a complete delight as a teacher. I’m happy to report that this class was even better than I had hoped it would be. The instructor, Daniel, made me feel very welcome from the minute I walked in the door and the sense of community was very apparent as everyone seemed genuinely glad to have me there. I loved the warm up and the round of singing games that were played at the beginning of class. Everyone participated and it was a blast. Daniel has a talent for picking the correct song for your voice so you actually feel comfortable. The entire group is extra warm and supportive so that anyone will feel successful." - Nancy S.
