We are beyond the moon to introduce our newest member of staff, Mak Kastelic!

Mak Kastelic (he/they) brings a broad range of music experiences and a depth of expertise to Resound NW. They believe music to ultimately be a lifelong collaborative process, and often brings this collaborative spirit into his lessons with students. He has been fortunate enough to work with students of all ages in a variety of settings, and is known throughout the Portland Metro Area for his extensive career in music direction and performance, particularly in musical theatre.

They have served as the Musical Director, conductor, or performer for nearly every music theatre in the area. He has also plugged into the local pool of Portland music through psychedelic grunge to circus-jazz scenes, and is currently the founding music director for the queer-forward neo-soul collective, Kiki’s Delivery Service, led by Resound NW student Kimo Camat.

You can now book voice, piano, and guitar lessons with Mak! Mak is available Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The Creative Songsmith | April 1st

Elevate your music in this interactive and personalized masterclass. Whether you're a budding songwriter or a seasoned composer, this class is designed to help you refine your craft and enhance your songwriting skills. Bring your original song or original arrangement of a cover to the class, and receive constructive feedback. Students are encouraged to accompany themselves, though using pre recorded accompaniment is also welcome.

Who is this class for?

Anyone who has a song they’ve written (or an original arrangement of a cover) and is eager to get feedback to improve it.
Aspiring songwriters looking to take their compositions to the next level.

Courtney Freed (and friends) are offering a fun, welcoming, musical opportunity for jazz-curious singers to workshop their standard song options with live, professional jazz musicians.

Attendees will address technique, interpretation, choosing rep, how to sing in collaboration and more! This workshop will be monthly (on a Sunday) in the NW Portland suburbs from 2:30-4:30pm.

Upcoming Dates include: 2/16, 3/16 and 4/13. Please reach out if you are interested in attending a session! The workshop is $50 and there is a package available for 6 sessions. All levels welcome!

Portland Gay Men’s Chorus: Our New World Performance

It’s a landmark season for the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus (PGMC), and we’re celebrating the best way we know how: Together! It’s a never-before-seen joint effort between the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, the Portland Lesbian Choir, the Rose City Pride Band and a special feature with Bridging Voices. Over 350 singers and instrumentalists hit the Arlene Schnitzer stage to present an epic program celebrating the power of music and community and dreaming of the world we hope to create together. It’s a 45th birthday bash of legendary proportions, and everyone's invited to attend!
