Playback PDX is back for our January 26th show, and we wanted to focus on something we all share: names! Join us for an evening of stories about who we are, how and why we got our names, how we gave the name we gave, how we re-claimed a name given us...and so much more!
Our cast will be: Jackie Paris, Sara McWilliams, Beth Ricketson, Ross Laguzza, Kevin Ferguson, and Avi Klepper. Check out the Facebook event here.

| | | Fertile Ground Comes to Resound NW: Don't miss Disconnected: A Frankenstein Musical! Sunday, January 27, 2:00pm Tuesday, January 29, 7:30pm Sunday, February 3, 2:00pm
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is reimagined as a dark, passionate musical within a nostalgic gothic realm of late 1990s Oregon, complete with anticipation of the approaching year 2000, booming technology, and unrequited love. Fertile Ground audiences are invited to be a part of the process as act 1 of this musical-in-progress is presented as a reading (with 12 songs). Runtime approximately 75 minutes.
Vicky is a promising neuroscience graduate student whose pursuit of a new invention leads her down a dark path after one of her best friends is in a serious accident.
Performed by 12 talented actors and singers who were hired and well-rehearsed for this project, original music and lyrics by Chris Rentzel are complemented by the writings of Gayle Towell. Afterward, written feedback is encouraged for the purpose of helping tighten the story that will help propel the project to a staged reading of the full musical at next year's festival.

| | Wonderful, Really Composed and Directed by Erin Rachel Sunday, January 27, 7:00pm Resound NW
rockcitysea introduces an interactive performance based on a retrospective of original music composed by Erin Rachel. This auditory and visual experience will explore issues related to identity, agency and empowerment in the journey towards self-expression in the digital age. Two unique, genre-blending performances will combine vocal and musical performance along with visual projection. The audience will be invited to experience the synchronicity and delight that occurs when something beautiful and wonderful, really, is not about 'what' but 'how.' Appropriate for 13+. | | Announcing Our New Grand Piano!
We are excited to announce a new member of the Resound NW family - a grand piano! We have recently purchased a lovely Baldwin grand piano for use in our studio. It's truly a wonderful piano, and we can't wait for you to play it for your piano lessons, sing with it in your voice lessons, and utilize it in our classes, workshops, and concerts.

| | 6 Week Solo Performance Class with Courtney Freed and Darcy White
Calling all Portland performers! The world needs your unique voice and story! Are you a Portland musical theater performer (or an actor who sings) looking to build your solo performance skills, workshop an idea for a "cabaret" piece or simply seeking an opportunity to work on new material outside of your usual repertoire? Join local cabaret dynamos Courtney Freed and Darcy White as they embark on a six week journey to help you develop your specific and unique voice in a professional, supportive and fun environment. During these 3 hour sessions you will:
+ Workshop material you have ALWAYS wanted to visit, but never have had the opportunity or resources to.
+ Learn the "ins and outs" of marketing your own project(s) to appeal to a variety of audiences.
+ Receive constructive and healthy feedback about your material, delivery and your specific performance strengths and opportunities.
+ Develop your ideas into a short, "mini cabaret" to be showcased at the end of the class series for an audience of supportive friends and family.
Class will meet for 6 Mondays, beginning February 4th, 2019 from 7-10pm, culminating in an invited showcase on March 11, 2019.

"Song Studio" is a performance class where Resound NW students perform a song they have prepared and receive valuable coaching on their performance. The class includes a mini-lesson for each student plus a professional pianist to accompany them.
This class is fun, low-key, and an exciting way to learn about the craft of singing!
